About BECL
Although we trade as BECL, the initials stand for Balfours Environmental Consultants Ltd. BECL was set up in 2002 as a separate company, but aligned with Balfours (the Shropshire based chartered surveyors) who specialise in rural, commercial and residential property.
BECL was established to ensure that Balfours’ clients were properly advised after the introduction of the 2002 Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations and that Balfours’ clients would be compliant with the requirement for Asbestos Management Plans.
Since then the business has grown to offer a wider environmental consultancy service and to encompass a separate client base to that of Balfours.
BECL continues to undertake asbestos surveys with qualified surveyors. We also undertake Energy Assessments – usually in the form of Energy Performance Certificates for residential and commercial property. With the increasing amount of Ecology work necessary for protected species for planning applications, we also undertake Ecology Surveys.
More recently we have branched into renewable energy, building on the renewables expertise that already exists within BECL. We recognise that there are lot of people talking about renewables and very few delivering. This is why we have established our renewables team to consult across the spectrum of renewable energy systems as well as being able to deliver them.
